Wish to the Sea Ceremony
Our special "Wish to
the Sea" ceremony follows after the main wedding ceremony. The
Wish to the Sea is a great way to involve your guests in your
wedding day! The shells are mini sand dollar biscuits that are
on a stand behind the altar site, and after the bride and groom
are pronounced husband and wife, they walk down the aisle to be
congratulated by guests, then they walk back up the aisle for
the Wish to the Sea, followed by guests. Each guest, along with
the couple, will throw their shell into the sea with a silent
blessing, wish or prayer for the new couple.
Upon arrival at the
beach, all of your guests are given a small information sheet
describing this ceremony. Following the "wish to the sea",
picture taking begins! This is similar to Hawaii's Blessing of
the Stones, however, we use sand dollar shells rather than
stones.
*If you over 50
persons in your total guest count and bridal party, we suggest
only having immediate family and bridal party participate in the
Wish to the Sea. With too many guests there tends to be
confusion and it is also sometimes difficult to gather everyone
for the reception that follows. This is a good time to send
other guests to your reception.
